Africa Satellite Navigation Conference
Africa Satellite Navigation Conference High-Level Pre-event
“Leveraging GNSS Technology for Enhanced Multi-Hazard
Early Warning Systems in Africa.”
Praia, Cabo Verde
Purpose
The Government of Cabo Verde, in partnership with SatNav Africa JPO, will host the Africa Satellite Navigation Conference Pre-event on "Leveraging GNSS Technology for Enhanced Multi-Hazard Early Warning Systems in Africa," from 6th to 7th November 2024.

This Pre-event will showcase how GNSS, in synergy with other space technologies like Earth Observation and Communications, can strengthen Multi-Hazard Early Warning Systems (MHEWAS) in Africa. It will also serve as a platform for capacity building, knowledge exchange, and fostering collaboration among experts, stakeholders, and policymakers. The event aims to highlight the critical role of GNSS in improving the accuracy, timeliness, and effectiveness of early warning systems, helping save lives and reduce disaster impacts.

In addition, the Pre-event will proudly announce the inaugural International Africa Satellite Navigation Conference, scheduled for 2025 in Dakar, Senegal! This highly anticipated conference will offer a unique platform for Africa to address the role of satellite navigation and positioning in bridging the gap between urban and rural areas, with a special focus on priority areas such as early warning and disaster risk reduction.
